Thousands of mall-based stores to close

Published: April 21, 2017
According to Business Insider, stores based in U.S. malls are shutting down at a rapid rate and on a large scale.

More than 3,500 stores are expected to close in the coming months. Most of these stores are clothing retail giants such as JCPenny, Payless and American Apparel.

Some, such as Bebe, are closing all of its brick-and-mortar locations to focus on growing its online store. Others, like The Limited, are going out of business entirely. Still others, such as Sears, are closing down weak links to focus on profitable locations.
