Traxxas settles patent disputes
Published:
May 22, 2015 Taking care of business in ongoing fashion, Traxxas has recently reached settlements in two cases involving its patents.
In April, Traxxas, the R/C car manufacturer based in McKinney, Texas, announced the resolution of a dispute pending before a federal district court for eastern Texas concerning Namero LLC (doing business as Redcat Racing). The patents being asserted by Traxxas related to a chassis design and center-pivot steering system.
A little more than a month later, in the same federal district court, Traxxas gained settlement of a patent suit it brought against Hobby Shack. The suit alleged that the design of a waterproof receiver box featured in the Traxxas E-Maxx R/C car was infringed upon by the DHK Hunter R/C truck distributed by Global Hobby Distributors and sold by Hobby Shack at their Hobby People retail locations (and online at www.hobbypeople.net). Shortly after the lawsuit was filed, Hobby Shack changed the DHK Hunter design to omit the disputed box, so no product recall was required.
Financial terms of the settlements were not disclosed. |
