Rapido Trains donates $20K in memory of Leonard Nimoy
Published:
June 29, 2015 Rapido Trains, Inc., of Markham, Ont., has made a donation of $20,315 to the Breathing as One campaign of the Canadian Lung Association in memory of actor Leonard Nimoy.
The money came from a silent online auction of 40 limited-edition, HO-scale LRC “shuttlecraft” locomotives. Nearly 100 bids were received; each of the top 40 bidders received an individually numbered piece.
A longtime fan of Nimoy’s work in the “Star Trek” television series and films, Rapido owner and president Jason Shron says, “When Leonard passed away earlier this year, we wanted to do something to honor him. When we saw that the fight against COPD was something Leonard had long been associated with, it was an obvious decision to partner with the Lung Association.” |
